A larger than normal spleen is called Splenomegaly. this means a spleen size of over 12 cm.

But when the portal vein pressure is too high, the body uses the renmant of the paraumbilical vein (PUV) like a pressure valve release.
If its over 3mm and has outward liver flow, thats abnormal.
It can cause Encepthalopathy (foggy brain).

Portosystemic varices. These are small varices, that indicate high pressure in the portal vein.

Hepatofugal flow - reverse flow in the portal vein.
